Parry, Suzanne Vidor
Daughter of King Vidor Suzanne Vidor Parry passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 1, at St. John's Hospital from complications of a recently diagnosed blood disorder. She was 84. Born December 26, 1918 in Los Angeles. Sue was the only child of legendary film director King Vidor and silent film actress Florence Arto Vidor - who later married renowned violinist Jascha Heifetz. Sue graduated from The Cumnock School, Los Angeles in 1937, attended Barnard College in New York City and Pomona College in Claremont. Sue married real estate investor/financier Morgan Adams, Jr. in 1945, and raised their 5 children in Claremont before moving to Hancock Park in 1957. The Adams family were avid skiers, especially at the local Mt. Baldy area that Adams owned and developed. The marriage ended in divorce in 1960. There were two subsequent marriages, both to Los Angeles public relations executive David F. Parry, the first ending in divorce; the second cut short by Mr. Parry's death in 1992. Sue is survived by children Norman, David, Robin and John Adams, step-children Lynn, David, Gwilym and Virginia Parry, sisters Belinda and Tony Vidor and Josepha Heifetz, beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In recent years, "Tutu" cared for her granddaughter Melelani as she attended New Roads School. A resident of Santa Monica, Sue was an active enthusiast of the arts and enjoyed extensive travel. She worked as a freelance travel writer for Architectural Digest and with noted Los Angeles artist Tony Duquette. Sue was writing her memoirs of growing up in Hollywood, and she promoted revivals of her father King Vidor's movies. In August 2003 Sue put together an exhibition of the artwork of her son John and her deceased son Mo Adams. With a magical ability to unify an extended family and far away friends, Sue will be deeply missed by all who have been blessed by the ease of her company, her warm, welcoming smile and constant caring nature. Visitation will be held Wednesday & Thursday, December 3-4, 11am-5pm at Little Chapel of the Dawn, 1925 Arizona Ave., Santa Monica. A Private Family Tribute for Sue is planned for later in the week. Donations may be sent to Physicians for Social Responsibility or Santa Monica's New Roads School. May she rest.
