Roger Lee Harts, 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 2, 2022. He was born November 24, 1928, in Ellsworth, Kansas, to parents Oscar and Mabel Harts. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Adrien, Ken, Lucille, Richard, Kathleen, John, Harvey, and Donald Harts, and daughter-in-law Sharon Earwood Harts. He is survived by his wife, Doris; his sons, Allen and Perry and wife JoAnn; his granddaughters Rebecca, and Jessica and husband Danny Collins, great-grandsons, Austin, Joshua, Harrison, and Garrett Collins, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

Roger was raised on a farm near Ellsworth with his eight siblings. After the passing of his father and mother in 1933 and 1944, respectively, he spent several years living with his sister, Adrien and her husband Burt. He attended Ellsworth High School and graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He was commissioned as an officer in the US Army Signal Corps in 1952. After serving in the Korean War, he was released from active duty at the rank of First Lieutenant.

Following his service, he went to work for Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America where he worked for 32 years as an engineer. Over the course of his career, he worked in Kansas, Iowa, Texas, Chicago, and Oklahoma.

While working near Harper, Iowa he met his wife, Doris Turnipseed. They were married for nearly 67 years, and had two sons, two granddaughters, and four great-grandsons.

During the last 18 years of his career, he served as district superintendent at a compressor station near Conroe, Texas, where he and his family attended Conroe Bible Church for many years.

After he retired in 1986, he and Doris moved to Cleburne, Texas. He spent his time mastering his wood-working skills by building furniture in his garage and traveling. He and Doris had visited all 50 states. He also did volunteer work, such as driving a truck for the food pantry. He became a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved to listen to the radio program, "Thru the Bible" by Jay Vernon McGee, www.ttb.org.

In 2021, he and Doris moved to Parkview Retirement Community in Frisco, Texas, where they were much closer to family.
