John Alfred Harts, 84, of North Platte, NE, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at Premier Estates in North Platte.
John was born March 12, 1925, to Oscar Burton and Mabel Frances White Harts at Ellsworth, KS, where he grew up. John served in the U.S. Army from January 5, 1949, to December 12, 1951. He then returned to Kansas to work before moving to California. John farmed with his brother, Donald, south of Sutherland, NE, before moving to Ogallala, NE. He moved into the Pawnee Assisted-Living Hotel in 2007 and then Premier Estates the following year.
Survivors include his brothers, Roger and wife, Doris Harts of Cleburne, TX and Harvey and wife, Nancy Harts of Ellsworth, KS; and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Donald and Kenneth Harts; and two sisters, Lucille Mays and Adrien Rozelle.
A memorial graveside service and inurnment will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors. Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore in charge of arrangements.
