Born in Bridgeport, CT, he moved to Central Florida in 1973. He was a retried truck driver for Consolidated Freightways and a member of the Teamsters Local 385 and a member of the Eustis Elks Lodge 1578. A Navy veteran of WWII, he served as a crew member on a Dive Bomber Grp assigned to the USS aircraft carrier "Hornet". He supported the Air Force group of B-25 Bombers led by General Doolittle that departed the Hornet for the first Air Raid on the mainland of Japan. He also survived the sinking of the carrier USS Hornet on October 26, 1942 when it came under attack from Japanese Kami-kaze suicide planes.
He is survived by his wife Clara; sister Helen Williams; brother John Medak; stepchildren, Michael Stebick, Jeanine Suter, Pamela Roberts; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and numerous niece and nephews.
