Ed Wright, 78, formerly of Sand Springs, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Belfair of McAlester.

He was born on November 7, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He married Jeanie Barnes on November 6, 1964 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He raced in the NHRA for many years and won 4 Wally trophies. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Wright; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy Wright and Les White; nephew and spouse, Charlie and Kristy Wright, and their children, Tyler, April and Chase Wright; niece and spouse, Linda Michelle and Mark Hall, and their children, Jennifer and Kayleigh Hall; sisters-in-law, Roena O'Kelley and Louise Brown; nieces, Brenda Martin and Rejeani Wilson; nephews, Kenny Adams and Michael O'Kelley; numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Grace Alexander; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Regena Wright; two nephews, John Adams and Buddy O'Kelley.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Hartshorne with Rev. Daniel Miller officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne, OK. Pallbearers will be Charlie Wright, Chase Wright, Tyler Wright, Michael O'Kelley, John O'Kelley, Greg Tucker and Bob McCutcheon.
