James Case, a lifelong resident of Doylestown, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 78. He was the husband of Betty Ann Case.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William Case and Clara (Buckley) Hasson.

James attended Tabor Home, Doylestown High School, and graduated from Central Bucks High School.

He was in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1962, which he then worked at the Doylestown National Guards Armory.

For 21 years, he worked at Charles Chips in Montgomeryville and then moved on to working at Salem United Church of Christ in Doylestown as sexton.

In his early years, he was an avid dart player and enjoyed a game of golf now and then. The most enjoyment of his life was his four children and the eight grandchildren who called him 'Pop Pop,' which he took great pride in.

In addition to his wife, Betty Ann, he is survived by his children: two daughters, Marie Bunting of Perkasie and Kimberly Vagasky (Rick) of New Britain, and two sons, Brian Case of Doylestown and Scott Case (Ellyn) of Doylestown; and his eight grandchildren, Cory, Jessica, Sabrina, Kayla, Liam, Jeremiah, Brittany, and Chloe. Also surviving are his brothers, Charlie Case (Emily) and Eddie Case, and sisters, Dorothy Bauer and Clara Wysinski (Lou).

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gregg Bunting, and his sister, Joan Schultz.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home,
