Dorothy V. Gallagher, of Howell, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Quality Care of Howell. She was 90 years old.
Born and raised in Earnest, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Helen Volas, nee Brisco, and a graduate of Indiana High School in Indiana, PA, and was a former resident of Harrisburg, PA and a 30 year Bristol Township, PA, resident before moving to Michigan four years ago.
Until her retirement in 1987, Dorothy had been employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 25 years as an Executive Secretary for the Assistant Director of the Legislative Reference Bureau for the Pennsylvania General Assembly in the State Capitol Building. She was a former member of Saint Michael the Archangel RC Church in Levittown. She was also a former member and past President of the Sultanas of AL Fath, #126, Alhambra in Levittown, the Lower Makefield T.L.A., and also worked in the office of the Grace Crossing Unit, in Harrisburg.
Dorothy was the wife of the late Honorable James J. A. Gallagher, former PA State representative and Bristol Township Executive/Mayor.
Born one of ten siblings, she is survived by her sister, Barbara Lingenfelter (Donald Sr.), her three children; James J. A. Gallagher, Jr. (Sandra), Sharon Demers (William), Kathleen Antolino, and the late Sheila Gallagher Self.
She will be sadly missed by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, at St. Michael the Archangel R. C. Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, PA, 19055 and her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Rite of committal will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
