Union, Nov 9. - Mr John Pence was found dead in his bed at the home of Mr Walter D Falls near Willow Bend, this county, on Tuesday morning last, Nov 6. He had retired in his usual health the night before and his death was a shocking surprise. An inquest was held by Justice J T Miller and attended by Prosecuting Attorney W N LaFon. Dr J E Roles, summoned as a physician, testified that the deceased had Bright's disease and his death might have been due to convulsions or apoplexy. The verdict of the jury was that Mr Pence came to his death from natural causes. He was about 66 years of age and was a quiet, retiring man and good citizen. He is survived by one sister, Mrs J E Murdock of Hunters Springs, who is the last surviving child of their parents the late Mr and Mrs David Pence. Since the death of his brother, Hugh, Mr Pence had been making his home with Messrs W D and Leonard Falls. His remains were interred Wednesday in the Pence family graveyard on Indian Creek, Rev R K Nevitt conducting the funeral services.
