Gertrude, N. Howell, 80, former Manson resident who recently moved to Leavenworth, died Thursday at the Leavenworth hospital of injuries suffered in a fall on Dec. 6.

Mrs. Howell and her husband had moved to Leavenworth in late November.

She was born Sept. 20, 1891 in Custer Co., Colo., and came to Washington as a child with her parents. They settled at Ferndale and later moved to Mansfield.

She was married to Henry W. Keys on Nov. 17, 1910, at Mansfield. They lived at Bridgeport until 1917 when they moved to Chelan and lived in the Boyd district. They later moved to Manson, where she served as postmaster for several years following her appointment in 1927.

Mr. Keys died in 1936.

On Dec. 25, 1945, she was married to S. Victor Howell at Manson and they owned and operated Vic's Meat and Grocery until retiring in 1958.

Surviving are her husband, at the home in Leavenworth; two daughters, Mrs. Lee (Arline) Drake, Leavenworth, and Mrs. Al (Kathryn) Zenner, Genesee, Idaho; one son, Henry J. Keys, Manson; a stepson, Leonard R. Howell, Manson; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
