Services were held May 11 from Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Ruth I. Betts Fortenberry of 3603 North view Dr. The Rev. Keith Tonkel officiated.
Mrs. Fortenberry, 77, died May 9 in Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
A native of Montgomery County, Mrs. Fortenberry had been a Jackson resident since 1338. She was a graduate of Vaiden High School and received her Licensed Practical Nurse's training at the University Medical Center in 1966.
A member of Wells Memorial United Methodist Church, she was involved with Golden Rule Chapter No. 366, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, R. B. Fortenberry of Jackson; daughters, Leila Behel of Denver, Colo., and Sarah Ruth Koons of Waco, Texas; a son, Tom W. Betts of Dawsonville, Ga.; a sister, Amanda Louise Hoagland of Decatur, Ala.; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Burial was in Lakewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cliff Ferguson, 0. W. Lee, C. B. Farmer, Wilburn Fortenberry, J. H. Mize and Claude Arnold.
Memorials may be made to Wells Memorial United Methodist Church.
