Marie Antoinette Harper Riddle Payne was born in Tuskegee, Alabama to Carrie Harper. She married Dr. Roscoe Riddle in 1927 in Texas. Marie and Roscoe had two children, Edwina Riddle Spigener and Glady Riddle Martin. Marie and Roscoe raised their two children in Crocket and Denison, TX until the family relocated to Benton Harbor, MI around 1945. Dr. Riddle died in 1950 and Marie then married Dr. Arthur C. Payne of East Chicago, Indiana where she lived until her death. Marie was a member of Links, Inc.
