Mary Louisa Stone Bryan was the daughter of Absalom Benjamin Stone and Sarah Elizabeth Hood. She was born in Montgomery County, Alabama. The family moved to Harrison Co. Texas when she was a small child. She attended Murray Institute in Upshur County, TX. They moved to Austin Co., Tx just before the end of the Civil War. She married Dr. George Washington Bryan on May 21, 1867 in Buckhorn, Austin Co., TX. About 1872 they moved to the Drane Community in Navarro Co.
