Juanita Allmendinger Smith, age 100, passed away at First Community Health Care Center December 31, 2004. Predeceased by husband Kenneth D. Smith, M.D., and daughter Barbara Columpus. Survived by daughter, Carol A. Jones (Mrs. David Russack); son-in-law, David Russack; grandsons, Brian (Theresa) Jones, Bruce Jones of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Beth Smith of Oceanside, CA; Sarah (Jeff) Menzel of Marquette, MI; niece, Mary Ann (James) Brooks of Richmond, IN; step-granddaughters, Andrea Russack and Valerie Hoff (Mrs. Derrick DeCarlo) of Atlanta, GA; step-grandson David Russick, Jr.; great grandchildren, Ash, Barron and Benjamin Jones, Lisa and Ted Schleutker, Colin Menzel; and step-great grandson, Nicholas DeCarlo. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity and received a Masters Degree from The Ohio State University. A teacher for many years, she retired in 1974 as District English Department Supervisor in the Southwestern City School District where she taught at Franklin Heights High School. She received many awards including Teacher of the Year and the Martha Jennings Scholarship Award. She enjoyed an active retirement during which she traveled extensively throughout the world. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, teacher, friend and neighbor and will be missed by many. Private services and burial at Marion, OH.
