Born May 21, 1942, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, MD. Dennis was the son of the late Wilbur Lamont Cessna and Ethel June (O'Neal) Cessna. Dennis was preceded in death by a twin brother, David Cessna, a grandson, Michael Pittman and three brothers: Wilbur Cessna JR, Clifford Cessna, and Carl Cessna and one sister: Betty Shriver.
Dennis grew up and attended Walnut Grove, a one room school house in Beans Cove, followed by LaSalle High School and then began a lifelong career at the family business, Cessna Brother's Sawmill and Farm.
He was a member of the Prosperity United Methodist Church. Dennis's many interests and hobbies were woodworking, hammering saws, gardening, and everything to do with construction and sawmill work. He enjoyed being able to help with any project, he had amazing knowledge of building structures and was always the go to for consulting on a project. He helped supervise and build over 20 houses for family and friends over the years.
He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and spending time and playing with his grandkids and great grandkids.
Later in life, Dennis's passion became collecting and restoring his antique international tractors, much to the delight of his supportive wife. If not at the sawmill during retirement, you could find Den tilling the garden, plowing snow, or just simply riding around always on his red tractor.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Louise (Hardman) Cessna; and his children, John Cessna and wife, Vicki of Beans Cove, PA; Michael Cessna and wife Corinna, of Fort Ashby, WV; Patrick Cessna and wife Tana of Oakland, MD; Tina Kimmell and Husband Patrick of Beans Cove, PA; Adam Cessna of Beans Cove, PA; Colin Cessna and wife Crystal of Beans Cove, PA. He also leaves behind his brother, Donald Cessna Sr.; his sisters, Mabel Bible, and Dorothy Yokum; and his sisters-in-law, Emma Jean Cessna, Virginia Cessna, and Marjorie Cessna; and his 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 2 to 6 P.M.

Interment will be in Prosperity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Zach Cessna, JT Cessna, JR Guthrie, David Cessna, Dylan Cessna, and Dakota Pittman.
