Professional Baseball Player. As an undrafted free agent, he signed his first contract with the Boston Red Sox as an infielder in 1959. For 4 seasons he played in their farm system. In the 1962 MLB Rule 5 draft he was selected by the New York Mets and placed in their top farm club, the Buffalo Bisons of the International League. He made his major league debut on April 14, 1963, for the New York Mets. He played his final game for the Mets on September 29, 1963, which was also his final game in major league baseball. He holds the distinction of being the final batter in the history of New York's venerable Polo Grounds stadium. In the 39 games that he appeared on the roster he had a batting average of .160, no home runs and 2 runs batted in. When he left baseball he became a full time teacher at Sunset Junior High School in Brooklyn, New York before retiring after 27 years. He passed away at home at the age of 84.
