Edna Bryant, 98 years of age from Gary, West Virginia passed away Monday, September 19, 2022, at McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation in Gary. Edna was the daughter of the late Zeff and Lucille Runyon Jarrett and born in Gary on April 28, 1924. She was a beloved wife and home maker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Elmer Bryant; infant daughter, Carolyn Bryant; two brothers: Joe Jarrett and Jessie Jarrett, as well as three sisters: Betty Day, Eva Biggs and Pauline Walker.
Edna was a life-long resident of Thorpe – Gary, West Virginia area and member of the Wilcoe Church of God for approximately 70 years. Edna loved her flower garden and shared generously with all of her neighbors and anyone else who asked. She served as President of The Ladies' Auxiliary of her church and became known in Welch by her baked goods. Edna also taught Sunday School and was well loved by children and their parents. She will be missed by her family, friends, church family and community.
Edna is survived by her two sons: Kenneth R. (Chris) Bryant of Ruther Glen, Virginia and Donald P. (Wanda) Bryant of Johnson City, Tennessee; five daughters: Chris (Larry) Williams of Conway, South Carolina, Mary (George) Frangolawkis of Hampton, Virginia, Marci Bryant of Welch, West Virginia, Jeannie (Howard) Fleming of Stafford, Virginia, and Joanna Gentry of Gary; Eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Ronald Felts, with visitation held an hour prior to services from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia. Pallbearers will be Edna's family and friends.
