Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, at Village Chapel for Danny "Hun" Forney, 69, of Gadsden, who died Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Rev. Blake Edmondson will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt Pisgah Baptist Cemetery.
Hun was a graduate of Gadsden High School, class of 1972, and he was also a lifelong member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He worked as a millwright at the Steel Plant for 28 years. As an Eagle Scout, he served as a leader in the Boy Scouts for many years. He was proud to be a Mason, and he served as a chaplain for them. Hun loved all things Alabama and was a huge fan of the university.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Margaret Forney; sister, Judy Ann Hall; brothers, William Ray Forney, Jerry Forney, and David Forney; and nephew, Joey Putnam.
Mr. Forney is survived by his wife, Kelly Elizabeth Forney; daughters, Angel (Gilbert) Fournelle, Ashlie Rebecca (Mark) Stone, Samantha Carroll, and Selina (Cotton) Rakestraw; grandchildren, Ann Marie (Tyler) Sampley, Haley Stone, Cheyenne Stone, Marc Snow, Jordan Childress, Jacob Carroll, Ralan Rakestraw and Elira Rakestraw; brother, Rex "Red" Forney; sister, Sue Putnam; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Special thanks to the CCU staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Dr. Debora Reiland, and Dr. Shubair.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
