Actor, Musician, T.V. Host. Born Carlos Salim Balaá, from a very young age he showed a strong predilection for art, especially with regard to theater, so he usually improvised small theaters that he made with the boxes of vegetables that he collected in the market where his father worked. When he turned 18, he decided that he should become independent, so he stopped working with his father in the butcher shop, to start doing various jobs, such as a printing worker, delivery man and administrative worker, among others. Thanks to the intervention of a great friend of his and his girlfriend, the vedette Morenita Galé, the young comedian auditioned for Délfor Amaranto, from the popular program "La Revista Dislocada." Finally, due to his great artistic gifts, he was hired. Although he debuted on the radio, he gained recognition in the world of television, where he also debuted as a soloist in 1961, with his participation in the show "La Telekermese Musical" on Channel 7. In addition to this, he played the role of Joe Bazooka, the character that had previously been played by the famous comedian Alberto Olmedo. The following year he participated in "Telecómicas," on Channel 9, and shortly after his consecration would come with the play "Canuto Cañete Conscrito del Siete," which would later become a film, and with which he managed to become the most popular comedian of the moment. As a result of the success, the directors of Canal 9 offered Carlitos to have his own first cycle, which was called "Balamicina," and who had the script by Gerardo Sofovich. After that experience, it would be the turn of Channel 13, one of the stations in which Balá completely sealed his destiny as a child idol, beginning in 1964 with the cycle "El Soldado Balá," followed by "El Flequillo de Balá," "El Clan Balá," "Balabasadas," "El Circus Show de Carlitos Balá," "El Circo Mágico de Carlitos Balá," and finally his main success: "El Show de Carlitos Balá," which lasted four years, between 1974 and 1978. After the show was canceled by Channel 13, the comedian moved with his cycle to Channel 7 to do his program for three seasons. In this stage his most famous characters emerged, such as Petronilo, the Magician Mersoni, the Invisible Man, the Indecisive, Misery and Mama-Chibe. In addition to his renowned stage as a television presenter, Balá developed an intense film career, with films that have now become cult films, such as "Dos Locos en el Aire" (1976), "Brigada en Acción" (1977), "Las Locuras del Profesor" (1979), "Cosa de Locos" (1981), among other well-known humorous films. "Carlitos" Balá passed away on September 23, 2022, but he will forever live in the mind of those kids who saw him on TV at the time.
