Mr. Leroy W. "Bud" Hoots, 84, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, at ProMedica in Galesburg.

He was born April 28, 1938, in Galesburg to Lewis and Doris (Rutledge) Hoots. He married Bonnie Williams, on October 18, 1968, in Galesburg.

Surviving is his wife of almost 54 years, Bonnie Hoots of Galesburg, a son, Lonnie Hoots of Galesburg, two daughters, Laurie (and David) Cottom of Knoxville, Illinois, and Robin Hoots of Eureka, Illinois, a son-in-law, Randy Marshall of Galesburg, a brother, Hank Agans of Galesburg, two sisters, Sue Hook of Galesburg and Peggy (and Brad) Wilke of Galesburg, ten grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Becky Marshall in 2020, and two brothers, Jack Hoots and Ed Hoots.

Bud graduated from Galesburg High School in 1956. He then served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a sheet medalist, first for Galesburg Sheet Metal and then Thomas Plumbing and Heating for 33 years. He retired in 2000. He was a member of the Sheet Metalist Union Local #91. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, particularly making birdhouses. He also enjoyed camping and fishing and at one time, was a member of Young's Lake. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and playing cards, especially poker.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will follow the visitation.
