Carl married Willa Robbins in Greensburg, Oct. 2, 1919 and was the father of one son, William James Mendenhall. A portion of Carl's obituary follows:
"Death came as a relief to the long suffering of one of Greensburg's fine young men, Carl Ross Mendenhall, 26, who passed away this morning at his home, 412 North Lincoln street. The funeral will be held some time Monday, Rev. J. R. Bardelmeier officiating.
"The deceased was a son of James E. Mendenhall, former mayor.....
"Upon leaving college, Mr. Mendenhall for a time was employed as an automobile salesman at Flint, Mich. In 1919 he was united in marriage to Miss Willa Robbins and later entered business in this city. His health failing, he was forced to seek hospital treatment and finally to abandon his business affairs. During the war he served an enlistment in the officers' corps at Indiana University and to exposure in this service is attributed the break in his health.
"........He was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Elks and the American Legion."
"Besides the wife and four-year-old son, Mr. Mendenhall is survived by his father, James E. Mendenhall and a sister, Mrs. Emmert Stevenson."
