Robert "Rob" Spade, 66, met Jesus face to face from Northview Health and Living in Anderson on Saturday, September 24, 2022, following a 43 year journey through Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born on September 7, 1956, in Anderson to James and Janet (Arnold) Spade and lived most of his life in Alexandria. Rob was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1975. Rob "Lived Joyfully" and continued to spread joy in his lifetime even through his broken but beautiful journey with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Rob, also known as "Whopper or Sporto", lived with a song in his heart, spread the love of Jesus, enjoyed hours of music with family and friends, was an avid sports fan of basketball and football, and always enjoyed a great sci-fi book. After high school, Rob would continue his education earning a BS in Elementary Education from Ball State University. Rob became "Mr. Spade" teaching at several schools and coaching sports until MS made his teaching vocation too difficult. After retirement from teaching, Rob focused his attention on MS research and support groups to help others. He would always encourage exercise such as a squeaky sneaker on a gym floor as good medicine, for as long as one is able. "When you no longer are able, try fishing but don't stop trying!" Rob was a member of Alexandria Christian Congregation Church and served as a Deacon for several years of exemplary service to others in their faith journey.

Surrounded by family and friends on September 22, 2001; Rob stood from his wheelchair to proclaim his marital vows to his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Beth Gardner) Spade. Before God, they pledged their unending love in sickness and health and made the most of their time together spoiling their beloved dog Lucky and their nieces and nephews. Rob and Beth would share 21 loving years of marriage. They enjoyed a lifelong love of books, music, cooking, and were a dynamic team hosting family and friends for holiday gatherings.

Rob Spade would not say "goodbye" but always preferred his departure from you as an instruction to "Live Joyfully" which we, the surviving family and friends, shall carry-on throughout our lives. Rob is survived by beloved spouse Elizabeth A Spade of Alex; Sister Jama Spade partner Nate, Brothers Steve Spade of Alex, Don (Angel) Spade of Fort Worth, Texas; Sisters-in-law Melissa (Chad) Mountcastle of Juneau, Alaska, Tina Gardner of Anderson, Brother-in-law Robert (partner Leah) Gardner of Anderson; cherished nieces and nephews Nathaniel, Dakota, and Joel Spade; Eric, Kaitlyn, and Lexi Mountcastle; Tiara Presser, Byron Gardner, Char Warner; a gaggle of loving cousins; and devoted special friends Wendell and Vickie Zirkle, Scott Owens, Terry Adamson, Bobby Pierce and Dave Muey.
