Diane attended Slaterville Elementary, Wahlquist Jr. High School, and Weber High School. She also attended Weber State and College of Southern Idaho.
She married the love of her life, Owen J. Shaw, in January 1959 in the Salt Lake City Temple. He passed away in July 1998. They were married for 39 wonderful years.
Diane is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a ward and stake organist, temple organist at the Boise Temple, ordinance worker at the Twin Falls Temple, Visiting and Ministering Sister, Relief Society and Primary pianist, and worked on Roadshows. She transposed sacred music and served in various presidencies.
She worked as the Farm Bureau Women's area representative, secretary, and chairperson for Miss Weber County Beauty Pageant. She worked at Weber High School as a cafeteria worker and as a secretary and receptionist for a potato shipper in Declo, ID.
Diane's hobbies and interests included the following: home nursing, child psychology, nutrition, home economics, interior decorating, crafts, cooking, sewing, gardening, knitting, crocheting, quilting and sports for women. She made a quilt for every grandchild at graduation, weddings, and family gatherings.
Diane was a partner right alongside her husband in their dairy business. She milked cows, fed calves and nursed sick calves back to health. She helped Owen achieve his title as Outstanding Young Farmer for the state of Utah. She helped it grow into a large family business.
She taught organ lessons and played for elementary school children in Roy at Pioneer Elementary for the Marriott and Slaterville area. She taught private lessons for 15 years in her home as well as traveling to student's homes to give organ lessons. She was the greatest support and advocate for our father when his health deteriorated from kidney disease. She then became the sole bread winner and continued her education in typing courses, medical technology courses, and even a 'street spoken Spanish' course. She loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren with the love only a grandmother could give.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Owen J. Shaw; infant son: Boyce J. Shaw; parents: Harold Trevor Jones and Lorraine Carroll Nielsen; and her older brother: Gerald Jones.
Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
