Susan Augusta De Lancey Cooper rests to the left of her husband, James Fenimore Cooper, in Cooperstown's Christ Church churchyard. There are so many James Fenimore Coopers laid in the family plot that these inconspicuous grave markers might otherwise be overlooked if their proximity to Christ Church (visible behind) is not noted.

"Angevine Farm," the country estate near Scarsdale inherited by James Fenimore Cooper's wife Susan DeLancey Cooper from her father John Peter DeLancey, who inherited it from his mother Anne Heathcote DeLancey, the daughter of Col. Caleb Heathcote (1666-1721), the first Lord of Scarsdale Manor.

According to Col. Heathcote’s great-granddaughter Susan Fenimore Cooper, Col. Heathcote gave the original lease of the farm to the Angevines in 1704. Westchester County histories by Bolton (v. 2, p. 231) and Scharf (v. 1, p.681) also state that the Angevines leased the farm from Col. Heathcote, and the Delanceys after him, for "four generations" and that the descendants of Pierre Angevine’s elder son Louis held the farm for 100 years by 1817. Louis’ brother Eli also bought the adjoining farm about 1770. Susan Fenimore Cooper said the Angevine lease was held by oral agreement, “without a line of writing,” for a century.
