5996 Private C Morgan, 2nd Battalion the South Wales Borderers. He deployed with his battalion to South Africa for the Second Anglo Boer War, sailing on the Bavarian about 18 Jan 1900, and arrived about 3 Feb 1900. Along with the 2nd Cheshire, 1st East Lancashire, and 2nd North Staffordshire, they formed the 15th Brigade under Major General A G Wavell. They followed the main army advance from the Orange River to Bloemfontein. Private Morgan died of disease at Bloemfontein on 9 May 1900. He is also commemorated on the 2nd Battalion the South Wales Borderers Boer War memorial in Brecon Cathedral, Cathedral Close, Brecon, Wales (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/258590/) and on the Welsh National Boer War memorial in King Edward VII Avenue, Cardiff, Wales (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/120434/).

He is not listed on the cemetery Boer War memorial under the South Wales Borderers.
