YAKIMA - Ruby Jorgensen, 99, went home to be with her Lord on Feb. 4, 2008, at Yakima Memorial Hospital. She was born February 13, 1908, in Lucas County, Iowa, to Will and Martha Shore. She graduated from Blunt High School in Blunt, South Dakota. She married Howard Jorgensen, March 24, 1929 in Harold, South Dakota. They shared 70 years together. They traveled to Yakima, Washington, the summer of 1929, in a 1928 Chevrolet, to start a small fruit orchard, and also raise chicken eggs for Logan's Hatchery.

Ruby was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where she sang in the choir, was active in the missionary society, and was head of the junior department for many years. She modeled a life of deep faith and love for the Lord and family. She belonged to the Hoe and Grow Garden Club, and loved flower gardening, especially her rose garden. She cared for her disabled son for 67 years at home with great love, patience, and devotion. She was a wonderful and caring homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Maxine (Leonard) Lydin and one son Wayne Jorgenesen all of Yakima; three granddaughters Karen (Tom) Rand of Monmouth, OR., Cheryl (Brad) Mellotte and Jan (Dean) Bass of Yakima; eight great-grandchildren David, Michael and Jamie Rand of Monmouth, OR., Isaac, Nathan, and Rachel Bass, and Andy and Lily Mellotte of Yakima: two half-brothers and one half-sister all of California, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, three sisters and two brothers.

Our family will be eternally grateful to Mom for the strong Christian heritage she instilled in us. A loving, cheerful, and positive person by nature, she brought joy into our lives consistently through good times and bad, modeling a strong and abiding faith in God. Knowing that she is in Heaven with Jesus, in her new and glorified body, with her beloved husband, gives us comfort and peace unsurpassed. We look forward to seeing her again.

A special thank you, to all who have cared for her, especially YVMH and hospice.

Viewing will be Thursday, February 7th from 3-8, at Keith and Keith, Ninth Avenue Chapel. Family graveside services will be Saturday, Feb. 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, and a 1:00 p.m. memorial service, at West Valley Nazarene, 7109 W. Nob Hill Blvd. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to Missions, c/o West Valley Nazarene or YVMH Hospice.
