From The Blunt Advocate, Blunt, Hughes, SD, 5 Jan 1922:
"MRS. WILL D. SHORE IS GONE. Mrs. W.D. Shore died Sunday night at her home five miles north of Blunt after an illness of about one week. Erysipelas was the cause. Two or three days after the disease was in evidence it was thought that the progress had been stopped, but Saturday there was an unfavorable change. The patient became unconscious, and on Sunday evening passed away.
Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon. At. 12:30 o'clock there was a short service at the home with scriptural reading and prayer by Rev. E.L. Prather, and a song by a male quartet, after which the body was brought to the Methodist church at Blunt accompanied by a procession of neighbors and friends. At the church which was filled to capacity with friends of the family, the pastor spoke with deep feeling, basing his words upon the Christian character and consecrated life of the departed wife and mother. Favorite hymns of Mrs. Shore were rendered by a double quartet. Burial was made in Blunt cemetery.
Mrs. Shore's maiden name was Martha Lucille Tramel and she was born in Page county, Iowa, Nov. 26, 1881, and was 40 years, one month and 6 days of age. She was married to W.D. Shore Dec. 4, 1901 and there were born to them, Lena Ellen, age 19; Eliza Marie, age 17; Opal Lucille, age 16; Ruby, age 13; Paul Clinton, age 11; and Wilmer Leroy, age 6 months. Mrs. Shore united with the Methodist church at Blunt of which she was a member at the time of her death. Besides the near family there are left to mourn her death, her mother, Mrs. E.A. Tramel, three sisters, three brother, and a host of friends.
Mrs. Shore was so distinctly a devoted home loving woman and true home loving woman, that the immensity of the loss to the family appeals strongly to the sympathy of their many friends.
Card of Thanks. Words cannot express the gratitude for the many kindnesses shown to us during the sickness and death of our wife and mother, and also for the many beautiful flowers. We pray for all the blessings of him who said 'Inasmuch as you have done unto the least of these you have done it unto me'. Will Shore Family"
