Clarice Wahnelle Smith Hollander, 86, was born in Mullin, Texas, on December 15, 1935, to James O. and Clara O. Perkins Smith and grew up in a large family with many brothers and sisters. Clarice was number 5 of 12 children. Preceeding her in death is her brother James Arthur Smith, Webster Douglass Smith, and sister Wanda Ailene Smith Campbell. She is also preceeded in death by her husband Bobby Ray Hollander. Wahnelle is survived by 8 brothers and sisters.
Wahnelle received her B.A. from Sul Ross State University in December 1972 and went on to become a schoolteacher with her love of grammar and writing. She was also a loving and devoted wife to Bobby Ray Hollander, and they shared 56 years of marriage together. Wahnelle and Bobby were blessed to raise three children together, Dr. Bobby Mal Hollander, Kimberly Jane Hollander Huet, and Bruce Alan Hollander.
Together they were blessed 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas.
