Maurice was the son of Henry P. and Katherine Gilligan Berger. He was a 1932 graduate of Halstead School and a retired farmer. He married Marjorie Jeanne Wendling July 31, 1943 at Halstead. She died Feb. 22, 1999. They had two sons, Edward and Rodney.
