Juanita Stout

Services for Inola resident, Juanita Stout, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, at Inola First Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Clyde, at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.

Friends may visit at the funeral home until 8:00 this evening, with family receiving visitors from 6—8 p.m.

Juanita passed away Monday, May 31, 2004 at her home. Juanita was able to enjoy the comfort and security of her own home due to the loving care of her daughter, Yvonne. She was 94.

Born in Tiawah on Oct. 7, 1909 to Grover and May Belle Coker Lowther, Juanita was reared and educated in Tiawah until the age of 11. At that time, the family moved to Wyoming. A visit back to her grandparents' home provided Juanita the opportunity to renew a friendship with Clyde Stout. The couple married on March 19, 1928 in Claremore. They celebrated 75 years together prior to Mr. Stout's passing in November of 2003.

Though a full-time homemaker, Juanita was a charter member of the Inola Home Demonstration Club and helped with the formation of the Inola Public Library. An avid sports fan, Inola High School basketball was Juanita's favorite. She watched with pride as her grandson and great grandchildren won a state championship. She continued to be their cheerleader even until recent years. She was a member of the Willeo Baptist Church.

Loving and kind, Juanita never had a harsh word for anyone. She was extremely proud of the fact that her dear family chose to live nearby and to continue those close relationships that were so important to her.

Family members that survive Juanita include her daughter, Yvonne Barkley-Stout, of Inola; grandchildren, Clyde Barkley and his wife, Carol Ann, and Cathy Day and her husband, Terry, all of Inola; great grandchildren, Justin Barkley, graduate assistant at NSU, Andee Barkley, student at NSU, Carl Day and his wife, ShaLyn and Chrissy Marlin and her husband, Brian, all of Inola; one great grandchild, Kylee Marie Day, also of Inola; and a sister, Cleo Spencer of Sheridan, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Don Brownell.

Those who wish to honor Juanita's memory with a memorial contribution may do so to the Inola Public Library, P.O. Box 1237, Inola, OK 74036.
