Harvey was born Apr 24 1885 to farmers Thomas Fletcher (1859-1931) and Jane Hill (1861-1908), on Concession 9 Peel Township. Harvey enlisted on Mar 18 1916 in Galt naming his Aunt Elizabeth (Hill) Newton as next of kin. Harvey sailed from Halifax aboard SS Tuscania on Sep 25 1916 with 111th South Waterloo Overseas Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force #730620. Harvey was transferred to 35th Reserve Battalion upon arrival in England, and to Canadian Machine Gun Depot on Oct 8 1916. Arriving in Boulogne France Mar 22 1917 Harvey was taken on strength with 8th Canadian Machine Gun Coy. Harvey was buried by shell explosion in Aug 1917 and evacuated to clearing station, suffering from severe headaches, pains back of head and neck, great loss of memory and power of concentration. Harvey was transferred to Field Ambulance Station, then to General Hospital France, to a Hospital in Liverpool before being invalided to Canada aboard HMHS Araguaya leaving Liverpool on Jun 26 1918. Harvey was admitted to Military Hospital Guelph on Jul 13 1918 for shell shock, pyrexia, and neurasthenia. Harvey was discharged as medically unfit due to service although fit for employment in civil life on Aug 28 1918. Harvey married Minnie Armina Conkey (1897-1982) on Jan 4 1922 in Waterloo. Harvey passed away Apr 1 1974 and buried Mount View Cemetery Cambridge.
