John Garson Blake was baptized on 1 August 1809 at St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, the son of John Barnabas and Harriet Blake. There is a record of a second baptism at Middlegate Congregational Church on 27 September 1809. He married Louisa Maria Murton on 2 January 1845. "Jan. 2, at the Baptist Chapel, Norwich, by the Rev. John Lewis, Mr. John Garson Blake, draper and mercer, to Mrs. Maria Louisa Moore, widow of the late James Moore, gent., of Diss."
