DEATH OF MRS. WHALEN
Mother of Allen P. Westfall Passes Away at Home of Her Daughter
Mrs. Josephine F. Whalen, widow of the late John Whalen, of West Butler, died at her home with her daughter, Mrs. William Hall, at about 5 a.m. Tuesday. She had been in failing health for two years or more, due to her advanced age. She was 86 years old.
She was born in Wolcott, the daughter of the late George and Hannah Little Fox, and was twice married. Surviving are two children, Emogene, Mrs. William Hall, of Butler, and Allen P. Westfall, of this village, by her first husband, the late Christopher Westfall.
Another daughter, Gertrude Westfall, is dead. She also had two sisters, Kate and Hannah Fox, but, if living, their present whereabouts are unknown.
Until her mind became enfeebled by old age, Mrs. Whalen was a woman of strong common sense and great energy. She was a good neighbor and friend.
The funeral will be held from the Hall home at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Friday), with interment in Glenside cemetery.
