Eileen Sweeney was born in Cardiff, Wales. She was the daughter of William Sweeney and Margaret Maher, and the sister of John, Eileen, Edmund, Vera Mary, Patricia (Sister M. Edmund, IHM), William Francis Jr., and Rita. The family (William, Margaret, John, Eileen, Edmund and Vera Mary) immigrated to the US in 1903 and settled in Scranton, PA. The last three children were born in Scranton. She was a talented soloist, who often sang during funeral masses.
Eileen married Walter J. Kiley, they were the parents of a son, William, and two daughters, Margaret and Patricia Eileen. The family lived in Olyphant, PA, and after the death of her husband in 1957, she moved to Falls Church, VA to live with her daughter, Margaret.
Eileen died on October 26, 1973 in the Northern Virginia Doctors' Hospital in Virginia. She was buried with her husband in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA.
