Born June 10, 1920, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Idris and Margaret Richards Price . He was a graduate of Plymouth High School, class of 1938. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was formerly employed at Natona Mills, Dallas, for 38 years.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he served as an usher; St. Conrad's Young Men's Society and member of the board of directors of its credit union; Moose Lodge 128, Wilkes-Barre, where he served as governor in 1972 and Man of the Year in 1973; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6227, Parsons, and the American Legion; Knights of Columbus Council 302, Wilkes-Barre; and a 4th Degree member of the Bishop William J. Hafey Assembly.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Margaret Ann. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret G. Birmer, with whom he celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on June 17, 1999; sisters, Elizabeth Thomas, Emily McAndrew and Margaret Sims, all of Plymouth; and Gladys Toporcer, Middletown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Shavertown, Kingston Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Church Renovation Fund.
