Isabella Boyle was the daughter of William Cross Boyle and his second wife, Jane Elizabeth Taylor. Jane Boyle died in 1866 and it appears that Isabella and her brother were either placed with family or put up for adoption. No record was found of her in an 1870 census but in 1880, she lived with Rev. Allen McFarland and his family, residing in Flora, Illinois. The 1880 census lists her as the adopted daughter of Allen and Jennie McFarland.

Died at her home on Friday, June 12, 1896, of cancer, Mrs. Isabelle Opel, wife of Gustave E. Opel. Mrs. Opel is survived by her husband and two children.
The funeral will take place from the residence. The remains will be interred at Oak Ridge cemetery.
