Vincenzo Coppola was born to John and Mary (Natale) Coppola in the Caserta Province of Italy on May 14,1894. In 1910, he left his residence in Castel Campagnano to journey to the USA aboard the ship Europa. He arrived at Ellis Island on July 14, 1910. After spending time in New Haven, he moved to South Willington, where he worked in the local thread mill. There, he met and married Mary "Mame" Moriarty. They were wed in Stafford, by the Rev. Felix J. O'Neill, on Nov. 13, 1916. Mame later died of breast cancer, and Vincent was remarried to Ruth (Bruce) Masker. Vincent was employed by the state highway department until his retirement. He succumbed to an accidental death on Aug. 2, 1963, by falling from a railroad trestle into the Willimantic River. His body was discovered on Sep. 9, 1963. Even though his name and birth year are engraved above Mame's on the back of the Moriarty gravestone in St. Edward Cemetery (Stafford), he is not buried there. He was buried with his second wife in East Cemetery in Tolland.
