JOHN CROMBIE DIED YESTERDAY

John Crombie, aged 61 years, foreman for the Central Illinois Light company, died at 6:30 o'clock last night at his home, 203 Hillyer Place following an illness of two weeks.
Mr. Crombie was born in Melbourne, Canada, but had been a Peoria resident for thirty-two years. he belonged to the Modern Woodmen and Macabee lodges in this city.
He is survived by his wife, two brothers, M. G. Crombie, Canada and George M. Crombie of El Paso, Texas, and one sister, Emma J. Crombie, living in Canada.
Funeral services will be held at a time to be announced later. Burial will be in Fondulac cemetery, East Peoria.

Twenty-five Years Ago He Was the Tallest Police Officer in Peoria-- Aged 62 Years.

One of the best known police officers ever upon the Peoria force was John Crombie, who served twenty-five years ago. It is with deep regret that older Peorians will learn of his death, which took place early last evening at his home, 203 Hillyer Place. John Crombie was born in Melbourne, Canada, 62 years ago. For thirty-two years he has lived in Peoria. He was a brother-in-law of the late Wm. M. Allen, and was appointed on the police force during his administration as mayor in 1895. Patrolman Crombie was the tallest officer on ther force, standing well over six feet and built in proportion.
Mr. Crombie was married in 1893, his wife, who survives him, for formerly Miss Olive Dehority of East Peoria. he also leaves on son, Robert Crombie of Chicago(Moved back to Peoria).
Of late years Mr. Crombie has been in the employ of the Central Illinois Light Co. as foreman on street work.
Besides his wife and son he is survived by two brothers and one sister. They ar M. G. Crombie and Miss Emma J. Crombie, Canada and Geo. M. Crombie of El Paso, Tex. He was a member of the Modern Wooemen and Maccabees.

Husband of Olive, he married Olive on May 17, 1893.
