Amy (Dixon) Flaugher, 65
JEFFERSON — Amy (Dixon) Flaugher, 65, began her journey on the eternal road on Dec. 26, 2018, after having experienced one last Christmas with her family at the Jefferson Memory Care.
Amy was born May 3, 1953, in Chicago, Ill., to Thomas and Guyla Dixon.
Amy was a good Catholic girl and after having attended parochial school, graduated from Northwestern Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
With completed education in hand, Amy moved to Jefferson and found employment at Borg Textiles working alongside her father, Tom. Later, much to her delight, she was transferred to Chicago and began life in the city, loving every minute of it.
Indeed, it was here that she met her future husband, Andrew, and they married in 1980. Her daughter Katie came along three years later and life was good. Later, their circumstances changed, relocating them to Florida.
After a brief time there, Amy made her way back to Jefferson. It was here where Amy would spend her remaining years working at the County Market and Piggly Wiggly grocery stores.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow, and her passions of cooking, knitting and watching TV. Eventually, various health problems caught up with her and Amy finally succumbed to them on the day after Christmas.
Amy will be remembered by her daughter, Katie Flaugher; grandchildren, Sean and Kayla; siblings, Allyson (Dan) Kaiser, Elizabeth (Bob) Mershon, Tom (Oma) Dixon, Patty (Wayne) Emberson and Katie Dixon, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Amy's name to Jefferson Memory Care.
