Lou Anna Monts married Joseph James Keeffe June 15, 1901, in South Carolina. She moved with her husband and his six children from previous marriages, along with their baby daughter, Rosa Mae, to Covington County, Alabama, sometime in 1904 or early 1905. She gave birth to three more children, Mary, Lee Olive, and Ernest James Keeffe. After the death of her husband in 1931, Anna lived with her daughter Mary in the home her husband had built many years earlier. She remained there until her death.
