According to records Michael Devote, the son of Anthony and Angela, would have been an early Italian immigrant to Boston, as from 1860 to 1865 only 4,000 Italians settled in the United States as a whole. Michael was married to a woman named Angela and is known to have had at least one child, Mary, who was 15 years of age when she married 23 year old James Hunter, an Irish immigrant, at Boston on Sept. 18, 1864.

Michael lived with his family at 2 Ferry St. in Boston's North End and made his living as a Peddler. He was 50 when he died of Typhoid Fever. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dorchester.
