Obituary taken from the 3/18/1913 Ste. Genevieve Herald
Died: At the residence of his son Charles in Zell, died on Thursday, February 27, 1913 of the effects of old age, Joseph Fallert, at the ripe old age of 87 years, 11 mo., and 13 days.
Joseph Fallert was born in Baden Germany, on March 12, 1832, and came to America when about five years old with his parents who acquired the piece of ground in Zell where the brewery used to stand. Here he grew up to manhood, and some time in the 50's was married to Miss Juliana Basler. The happy couple was blessed with ten children, of whom three survive: Charles and Peter Fallern and Madalena (Mrs. Tony Miller? of Bloomsdale); those who died were Mrs. Peter Sucher, Mrs Henry Roth, Mrs. August Geiler, John and Anton Fallert and two others having died in infancy. The mother died on the 21st of March 1897. Beside the three children named, he had 41 grandchildren and quite a number of great grandchildren to mourn his death.
Mr. Fallert was a good Christian husband and father, much beloved by his family and one of the most highly respected citizens of the community. The funeral took place in the St. Joseph cemetery at Zell, after a requiem high mass done by Rev. Father C. L. Van Tourenhout at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. May he rest in peace.
