Died, Friday, April 16, at 5:40 p.m., at the family residence, 412 South Eleventh street, of lung and throat trouble, David Caldwell, aged 55 years, 5 months and 27 days. The deceased was born in Gyan, Ind. He enlisted as a private in Company D, Twenty-sixth Indiana Volunteers at Indianapolis, and served three years in the late war. He was taken prisoner at Point Capee, La., and was confined for ten months in a southern military prison. He had been a consistent member of the Central Baptist church for the past twenty-two years. He was a charter member of Carpenters' union No. 16 and a member of Stephenson Post No. 30, G. A. R.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, John A. and George D. Caldwell. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Central Baptist church. The members of the G. A. R. and Carpenters' union will attend.
