Frank McKiernan was a son of "Mountain Charley" McKiernan who came to the Glenwood section of Santa Cruz County in the 1850s. Frank owned a resort and campgrounds in a beautiful redwood grove at the side of the highway just south of Glenwood not far from the place of his birth. He passed away on Nov. 15, 1928, at a sanitarium in Seabright. He was 59 years old He was survived by his widow, one brother James (who resided on the Mountain Charley ranch), and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Bailey of San Jose and Mrs. Katherine Hammell of Los Angeles. Interment was in San Jose. (Santa Cruz Evening News, Nov. 16, 1928, p.7.)
