Alfred Petremant and Jane Walker had four sons, Alfred, Alexander, Theodore and Robert and three daughters, Julia, Matilda and Victorine.
Alfred Petremant was a designer and was employed by Salis Schwabe & Co, calico printers in Rhodes, a suburb of the town of Middleton, in the Rochdale district of Greater Manchester, England.
In November 1856 he travelled to America, with his wife, three daughters and son Robert and settled in Brooklyn NY. His two other sons, Alexander and Theodore, joined them a year later. Alfred, the eldest son stayed behind in England. He married Harriet Bell in 1853 and established himself as a designer of printed textile goods. When Harriet died she was buried with her father-in-law.
Alfred, senior died in Ardwick Green, England, he must have been visiting his son Alfred who at the time lived at 42 Ardwick Green, Manchester.
