80292 Gunner H Porter, 10th Company, Eastern Division, Royal Garrison Artillery. He deployed with his Company to South Africa for the Second Anglo Boer War, joining the Natal Task Force for the liberation of Ladysmith. After the recuperation period following the relief of Ladysmith, Gunner Porter fell ill and was evacuated to Princess Christian Hospital at Pinetown Bridge, Natal where he died of enteric fever (typhoid) on 6 Jul 1900 aged 28 years. He was buried on 7 Jul 1900. His gravemarker can be seen at: https://www.graves-at-eggsa.org/main.php?g2_itemId=626870.
