John C. Gibson, Sr., was born August 26, 1765 in Old Goshenhopper, Montgomery, Pennsylvania to William Gibson and Annie Ball died August 2, 1843 in Bright, Dearborn County, Indiana. He married Nancy Ann Mills on February 27, 1787 in Pennsylvania. Children: Elizabeth, John, Whalen, Margaret, David, Nancy, Charlotte, Charles, George, and Sarah
Fought in the Revolutionary war in Capt. Nathaniel Twining's Philadelphia Militia.
John moved from Pennsylvania to Dearborn co Indiana in about 1816 and founded the town of Saltillo, which is now known as Bright. He and his wife sold for $1.00 the land on which Providence Presbyterian Church and cemetery are located. Today the cemetery is known as Gibson cemetery.
