LA VERKIN, UT - Mae Watterson Griffiths, 87, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her daughter on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008. Born October 8, 1920, in Altonah, Duchesne County, Utah. The daughter of Frances Chase and Lora Mae Shiner Watterson. The loving wife and best friend of Nephi Rolfe Griffiths. They were married July 14, 1939, and sealed as a family in the Salt Lake City Temple December 10, 1948. They worked together most of their lives managing and owning businesses like Rolfe's Market, Jewelry Business, Color County Ceramics and LaVerkin Floral. Mae taught many ceramic classes for the community. During World War II, Mae operated a power machine for Harbor Sail Maker. She also worked with her mother preparing daily meals for her father's "Watterson Saw Mill" employees. Mae was known as a peacemaker; her gentle and kind ways could calm any turbulence. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Her sweet personality would draw people to her. She had courage, strength and integrity beyond measure. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and magnified every calling she held. Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rolfe; son, Billie Rolfe; son-in-law, Harold Taylor; granddaughter, Tamra Taylor; sister, Twila Yost; and brother, Cleon Watterson. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren, Phyllis Taylor (Harold), Debra (Tom), Tamra, Jeffery (Jennifer), Tom Griffiths (Connie), Robin (Tonia), Teresa, Rex (Carolyn), Lora, and her 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wed., January 30, 2008, 12 noon at the La Verkin 7th Ward Chapel, 70 S. 300 W., La Verkin. There will be a viewing Wed., one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be held Thurs., January 31, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah.
