Richard Hunsicker, 89, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the West Woods of Niles, following an illness.

He was born in, McGuffy, Ohio to the late Paul E. and Mary F. (Durbin) Hunsicker.

Richard graduated from a small schoolhouse in Marseilles, Ohio and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country proudly until his honorable discharge in 1956. He married Beatrice "Bea" M. Windle at a ceremony in Lima, Ohio on December 24, 1955.

He retired after forty years with American Electric Power (AEP) as an electrician, spending a large portion of those years at the Cook Nuclear Plant. Richard was a man of great faith and enjoyed taking his family to church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that enjoyed time with his family including many camping trips. Richard also enjoyed helping his family with their homes assisting with the wiring, plumbing, and many other projects.

He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Keith Michael Hunsicker and a brother, Paul E. "Gene" Hunsicker, Jr.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Bea Hunsicker of Niles; his children, Thomas (Carole) Hunsicker of Cairo, Ohio, Craig (Deborah) Hunsicker of Bristol, Wisconsin, Linda (Herbert) Brandt of St. Joseph, Michigan and Lisa (Brent) Book of Niles, Michigan; eleven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and a sister, Jane (Merwyn) Hastings of Delaware, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home in Niles at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning at Noon. An interment will follow with Full Military Honors at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens by the U. S. Army and American Legion Post 51 from Buchanan.

Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to Caring Circle Hospice at 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
