Carl H. Backus, 66, of 870 E. Archwood Av., died today at his residence. Mr. Backus, in tire assembly at Firestone's Plant 1, retired Feb. 28, 1962, with 28 years of service. He was a World War I veteran and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He leaves his wife, Marion; a son, Walter C. of Ypsilanti Mich.; brothers, William of Barberton, Fred and August of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Clara Lippincott of Barberton, and three grandchildren. Services 2 p. m Monday at the Schermesser Funeral Home, Rev. Ernest A. Eggers officiating, interment Greenlawn Memorial Park.
