'Originally born in Saxony, Vincent Tomek and his family had come to Josephine County around 1892. He was a successful farmer and well-known in the area.
Mr. Tomek leaves behind his wife with whom he had five children, all but their eldest son, a mining engineer, being taken before them.'
In trying to piece together a little more of Mr. Tomek's life and family I discovered his son Ferdinand was the mining engineer. He had been at Butte, Montana for about twenty years before he came out to Grants Pass to help take care of his aging parents and their property and his wife was to join him as soon as their affairs in Montana were settled. During this time another son, Henry, was deemed mentally incapacitated and facilitated, and Ferdinand was appointed as his guardian. Henry died there a few months later. Beyond that I cannot be sure.
